Appiah aspires to acquire more knowledge in the area of Statistics, and to be properly trained as a Statistician to boost the human resource development in the area of teaching and learning of Statistics as well as research activities in the Department.

Currently he lectures courses in Statistics and Management Science at both graduate and undergraduate levels. He lectures most courses in Statistics, at the undergraduate level;Sample Survey Theory, Regression Analysis, Non-Parametric Statistics, Probability and Statistics, Introduction to Probability and Statistics, Statistical Methods, Quantitative Methods, and Calculus and Analysis.At the postgraduate level,he lectures course modules in Statistical Theory, Statistical Models, Quantitative Methods for Planning, Operations Research and Statistical Methods. Appiah also lectures at the Kumasi Polytechnic courses in statistical modules which includes Introduction to Probability Theory, Statistical Quality Control, Multivariate Data Analysis, Operations Research and Quantitative Methods, Calculus and Matrix Algebra, Research Methodology and Sample Survey.

He is a member of Sub-Saharan Africa Network - International Biometry Society (SUSAN-IBS), Mathematics Association of Ghana (MAG), Ghana Science Association (GSA), Departmental Representative of Faculty of Physical Sciences Board, KNUST, Kumasi and also a member University Teachers Association (UTAG), Syllabus Review Committee, Department of Mathematics, KNUST, Kumasi. An alumni of the Mathematics Department of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana.

Having obtained his first degree in the Department from 1988-1991, he continued into his postgraduate studies also in the Department[1992-1995]. He Served as a National Service personnel and a teaching assistant, while doing his postgraduate studies in the Department[1991-1994].

After completion of his postgraduate course, he was appointed a lecturer in Statistics at the Kumasi Polytechnic[1996-1998]. He came back to lecture in the Department to date.

His research interests are Theory of Mathematical Statistics and Regression Analysis and their applications to real-life world,Operations Research and Sampling Surveys. He has attended lots of workshops and academic lectures including Regional Workshop on Functional Analysis and its Applications, IMS, Kwabenya, Accra[July, 1995], 4th Regional School on Modeling, Simulation and Optimization, Kwabenya Accra [April 1 - 12, 2002], 8th Regional Workshop on Functional Analysis and its Application to Differential Equations, Kwabenya, Accra,[July 8 - 16, 2002] and Resource Person, Training Workshop for SSS Teachers in Ashanti Region[January, 2005].
