Thesis Abstract:
In this study we attempt to develop mathematical methods to optimize the total length of oil pipeline in locating an oil refinery to be supplied from n supplies(rigs,wells or ports). In doing this we consider three situations;
a. Where the refinery could be sited anywhere and the pipelines connectiong the refinery to the supplies are in straight lines and can pass anywhere
b. Where there is an exclusion zone of radius r where pipelines connecting the rrefinery to the supplies can cross but the refinery cannot be located
c. Where both the refinery and the pipelines must avoid the exclusion zone
