Field Trips

AMS exposes its members to the industry by engaging them in field trips to industries in various related fields. These include, the Ghana Stock Exchange, the Social Security and National Insurance Trust, Tema Oil Refinery, Cocoa Board, Bank of Ghana, Ecobank and many other intitutions.

This opens opportunity for the students to have a semester breaks internship with these firms. During these field trips,students also are able to meet one on one with learned mathematicians in the field other than academia and confront them with all forms of problems and also get the opportunity to get answers to problems from experts from a different angle.

Since,the University is in Kumasi and students are familiar with the environment, most of all such firms/industry trips are targeted in the capital city,Accra. The trip starts at dawn,3:00 am so we can get to Accra by 7:00 am in the morning,rest for an hour and get to the firm by 8:00am. After, introduction and brief orientation, the conference,seminar or execution begins, mostly depending on the program the firm schedules with us. A certificate is occasionally awarded.
